The client is proprietary, but costs nothing. It can be downloaded for several different platforms on skype.com.

Resolving call quality issues
The audio in a group call is routed through the host of the call. Thus you have a better chance of good call quality if someone is hosting the call
- with a fairly powerful computer
- a good Internet connection.
Upload speed matters as well as download. DSL particularly is not known for good upload speeds.
