Community Translation Output

These are automated lojban-only versions of things being worked on in

Lojban CVS Server vs. Generated about once every 2 hours.

Community Original Works

  • The web-based ojbanic interactive story, or lojbo kamjikca lisri. This is a web-based story in lojban that you can add to. At each step of the story, you make a choice. When you reach the end of what others have written, you can add your own part to the story.
  • The ojban storytelling game.

Long Works

  • lo nu binxo -- The Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka, translated by xorxes. The English version can be found here. A 6"x9" pdf file is here (ready to be sent to Lulu or other print-on-demand services).

Short Stories

  • la tcuang e le toldi by chrisdone
  • "The Princess and the Pea", several different translations by different people. The idea is to compare the different writing styles that currently exist (and to give everyone the opportunity to practice their lojban).

Poetry

Children's books

  • Translation of "The Berenstain Bears and the Prize Pumpkin" by Michael Turiansky.
  • Translation of "The Berenstain Bears Get in a Fight" by Andrew Piekarski, reviewed by Michael Turiansky. You can listen to it while you read (download {file name="Berenstain_Bears_in_a_Fight.ogg" page=>Multimedia showdesc=1}), or even read it in Tengwar (download {file name="Berenstain_Fight_Tengwar.zip" page=>Tengwar showdesc=1}).

Children's rhymes and songs

  • ctoxrula -- Translation of Polish children song "Stokrotka"

Lullabies

Comics

Note that some comics relax the rule on lojban ortography. Most common non standard orthograpy is for {.i} which in some comic is rendered without the initial dot and in others is replaced by a colon ':'.

Humor

Non-fiction

Games

Math

Odds and ends

  • Translation of the fable carvi ("Rain").
  • An attempt at translating Hamlet

Various Short Translations

These are all a bit older.

  • A self-referential story by David Moser, printed in Douglas Hofstadter's column and book Metamagical Themas. Every sentence refers to itself, including the title, which is "This is the title of the story, which is repeated several times in the story itself." Perfect for Lojban. Tr. Nick Nicholas.
  • The well-known story "North Wind And Sun". This has been translated into hundreds of languages. Tr. Nick Nicholas.
