Notes

Issues

I don't think this needs a separate definition. Under the regularized meaning of {nai} with tenses, the meaning is self-explanatory. It should be listed under NAI, not under TAhE.

cmavo: na'o (TAhE)

  • {ta'e}

Proposed Keywords

  • typically

"(With interest:) I typically like science-fiction."
.i xu do na'o djica le nu sorpa'i
"Do you typically desire polyamity?"
.i ta'o mi na'o se cmene zo teneb .a zo tenen lo jbopre

Notes

Issues

cmavo: na'onai (TAhE*)

Proposed Definition

  • atypically

Usage Examples

.i mi na'o nai birti
I'm rarely sure.

Notes

Issues

I don't think this needs a separate definition. Under the regularized meaning of {nai} with tenses, the meaning is self-explanatory. It should be listed under NAI, not under TAhE.

cmavo: ru'i (TAhE)

Proposed Definition

Continuously. Subjective time tense. Indicates that the event occurs continuously over a certain interval. When tagging a sumti, the sumti specifies the interval.

Notes

Issues

cmavo: ru'inai (TAhE*)

Proposed Definition

Occasionally. Subjective time tense. Indicates that the event occurs occasionally over a certain interval. When tagging a sumti, the sumti specifies the interval.

Proposed Tag

fi'o se nalra'i

See Also

  • {di'i}

Proposed Keywords

  • occasionally
  • now and then
  • once and a while
  • from time to time
  • sometimes
  • sporadically

Usage Examples

.i mi ru'i nai jundi
I pay attention sporadically.

Notes

Issues

I don't think this needs a separate definition. Under the regularized meaning of {nai} with tenses, the meaning is self-explanatory. It should be listed under NAI, not under TAhE.

cmavo: ta'e (TAhE)

Proposed Definition

Habitually. Subjective time tense. Indicates that the event occurs habitually over a certain interval. When tagging a sumti, the sumti specifies the interval.

Proposed Tag

fi'o jai ze'a tcaci

See Also

  • {di'i}
  • {na'o}
  • {ru'i}

Proposed Keywords

  • habitually
  • habit
  • out of habit

Usage Examples

.i .ai mi ba ta'e snaveigau lo mi selsku ca lo nu cadzu
"I intend to habitually record my utterances during my walks."

Notes

Issues

The sense of "habit" is commonly ignored in usage in favor of a more general word indicating that the event is common/normal/ordinary. Otherwise it would make little sense to use it for events that don't involve an agent. The difference between {ta'e}'s usage and the intended meaning of {na'o} is almost undistinguishable as things stand. Current usage has {ta'e} as {fi'o jai ze'a fadni} and {na'o} is almost never used.

cmavo: ta'enai (TAhE*)

Proposed Definition

Non-habitually. Subjective time tense. Indicates that the event occurs non-habitually over a certain interval. When tagging a sumti, the sumti specifies the interval.

Proposed Tag

fi'o jai ze'a naltcaci

See Also

  • {di'i}
  • {na'o}
  • {ru'i}

Proposed Keywords

  • non-habitually

Usage Examples

.i mi ta'e nai na'e morji fi le selsne be mi gi'a na senva
"I'm not in the habit of misremembering my dreams or not dreaming at all."

Notes

Issues

I don't think this needs a separate definition. Under the regularized meaning of {nai} with tenses, the meaning is self-explanatory. It should be listed under NAI, not under TAhE.

General Section Issues

The question has been brought up, "What do these mean as tcita?". Our best guess so far has been the time during which the interval takes place. {.i broda ta'e lo brode} is {.i ta'e broda ca lo brode} (best I can explain). Note, this has actually NOT been covered in CLL. It does not state in Chapter 10, nor anywhere else in the book that I've found, that TAhE can actually be used as a tcita (it can, says machine grammar) or what it means semantically. - lindar
